Okay, so, I’ve been seeing this Jackson Holliday guy’s name popping up everywhere lately, especially when it comes to baseball cards. I mean, the dude was the first pick in the 2022 MLB Draft, so I guess it makes sense, but still, the hype is real. I decided to dive in and see what the fuss is all about.
First, I started looking around to see what kinds of cards were even out there. Turns out, there are tons! At least 31 sets, it seems like. I saw some 2022 Bowman Draft cards, which seemed pretty common. There was one, the #BDC168 Chrome RC, that kept showing up. Then I found some 2023 Bowman’s Best cards, too, with a Top Prospects one, #TP-12, that looked kinda cool.
After getting a feel for the variety, I started looking at prices. Man, some of these cards can get pricey! I saw that his biggest movers in a week were some 2024 Topps Chrome Update cards. Negative Refractor? I don’t even know what that means, but it sounds fancy.
I also checked out this place called Sportlots. You can see the current trading values of all his cards on there. It’s a handy way to compare prices, although you gotta keep in mind that card conditions vary. You know, NM, EX/NM, VG – all that stuff. It felt like I needed a whole new vocabulary just to understand it all.
It looks like the big-shot rookies are getting base rookie cards in the Series 2 set. Jackson’s one of them. I found one card with “SS, 20” on it, and that got me wondering if he’s a shortstop, with his age being 20?
My Takeaway
- This whole Jackson Holliday card thing is a rabbit hole. There’s so much to learn, and the prices can be all over the place.
- It seems like a good idea to do your research before buying anything. You don’t wanna get ripped off, right?
- I still don’t know if I’m ready to drop some serious cash on a card, but it’s definitely interesting to see how much people are willing to pay.
Anyway, that’s my little adventure into the world of Jackson Holliday cards. I might keep an eye on his career and see if these cards actually become worth a fortune. Who knows, maybe I’ll even buy one someday. But for now, I’m just gonna stick to watching him play and see if he lives up to the hype.
