Well, let me tell you somethin’ ’bout this Charlie Kolar and Brock Purdy boy. They played that football together, you know. Back in the day at that Iowa place. Iowa State, I reckon that’s what they call it. That Kolar, he was always catchin’ the ball. And Purdy, well, he was the one throwin’ it to him. Good pair, they were. Good boys.
Now, that Purdy, he went on to play for that team out west, the 49ers. Heard he done pretty good for himself too. Started from the bottom, now he’s up there with the big shots. Good for him, I say. He was always a hustler, that one. You could see it in his eyes, even back in them college days. He got that throwin’ arm, I tell ya. That boy can throw.
And that Charlie Kolar, he’s playin’ for the Ravens now. Big, strong fella. He was always catchin’ them passes from Purdy. I reckon they practiced that a lot. You gotta practice to be good, you know. That’s what my old man used to say. “Practice makes perfect,” he’d holler. And he was right. These boys, they practiced, and now look at ’em. Playin’ in the big leagues.
- Charlie Kolar, he’s a big ‘un.
- Brock Purdy, he can throw that ball far.
- They played together at Iowa State.
- Now they playin’ for the big teams.
- Good boys, both of ’em.
They was good together, that Brock Purdy and Charlie Kolar. Like two peas in a pod. One would throw, the other would catch. Simple as that. But it ain’t always easy, you know. Took a lot of hard work to get where they are. Them boys earned it. Didn’t nothin’ come easy for ’em. They had to work for every yard.
I remember watchin’ ’em on that TV. They was playin’ against Kansas one time. Purdy, he was runnin’ all over the place. Tryna get away from them other fellas. Then, boom! He throws it right to Kolar. Touchdown! Just like that. They was good, I tell ya. Real good.
That Purdy, folks called him somethin’ funny. “Mr. Irrelevant.” Don’t make much sense to me, but I guess it’s one of them football things. He sure proved them wrong, though. Went from the bottom to near the top. Now everyone talkin’ about Brock Purdy. Just like they are talkin’ about Charlie Kolar in Baltimore. These boys, they show you what hard work can do.
You see them on the field, runnin’ and jumpin’. It’s a sight, I tell ya. Makes a body proud to see them boys doin’ so well. They come from that Iowa State. That’s a good school, I reckon. They teach ’em good there. Teach ’em how to play football, and how to be good men, too. Important to be a good man.
This Charlie Kolar, he’s a good one. Strong as an ox, that one. And Purdy, he’s got that fire in him. You can see it when he plays. He wants to win. And he usually does. That’s the kind of fella you want on your team. A winner. Them two together, that was somethin’ special at Iowa State. I reckon you don’t see that kind of thing every day. Now, look at them, these two fellas from Iowa, Charlie Kolar and Brock Purdy.
They got that “Academic All-American” thing too. Means they’re smart, I guess. Not just good at football, but smart in the books too. That’s important. Gotta use your head for more than just wearin’ a helmet. My old man always said, “A strong back is good, but a strong mind is better.” These boys, they got both.
They played that game, that football. And they played it good. Brock Purdy throwin’ to Charlie Kolar, all them touchdowns. They made a lot of folks happy watchin’ ’em play. Made me happy, too. Good boys, doin’ good things. That’s all you can ask for, ain’t it?
Yep, that Charlie Kolar and Brock Purdy, they a pair to draw to. Remember those names. You’ll be hearin’ ’em for a long time, I reckon. They gonna be around. Long as they keep playin’ like they do, they gonna be just fine. Long time, these two will be playin’ football. They good boys.
