Well, lemme tell ya, this here Memphis football thing, it’s got more layers than my Sunday best onion! You got yer starters, yer backups, and probably some fellas just holdin’ the water buckets. This here’s what I reckon is the Memphis football depth chart.
Now, first off, you got the big cheese, the head honcho, the… the quarterback! He’s the one throwin’ that pigskin around like he’s got a grudge against it. From what I hear, they got a good one this year. Strong arm, that boy. Name’s Seth Henigan, I believe they call him. Or maybe it is Blake. One of them two.
Then you got the fellas tryin’ to catch that ball. Them’s the receivers. Fast as greased lightning, some of ’em. Gotta be, to catch that thing. They jump and they run and they stretch. Kinda like my old cat, Mittens, chasin’ a laser pointer. They also call them wide outs. I don’t know who make up these names.
- Wide Receiver: Them fellas gotta be quick!
- They need to catch that ball!
- Good luck to ’em, I say!
And don’t forget the big fellas up front, the ones pushin’ and shovin’. Them’s the linemen. Strong as oxen, they are. Gotta be, to protect that quarterback fella. If you see a number between 50 and 79, that is probably one of those guys. They are big, yes, I tell you, real big.
On the other side, you got the fellas tryin’ to stop the other team from doin’ all that. That’s the defense. Just like the offense, they got all sorts of positions too. Linemen, linebackers, defensive backs… sounds like a whole lotta fancy words for a bunch of fellas just tryin’ to tackle each other.
Them linebackers, they’re kinda like the, uh… the middle children. Not quite linemen, not quite defensive backs. But they gotta be tough, ’cause they gotta do a little bit of everything. They gotta run, they gotta tackle, they gotta… well, they gotta be busy, that’s for sure.
And them defensive backs, they’re the last line of defense. Like the fence around my chicken coop, keepin’ them foxes out. They’re usually the fastest ones on the team. They need to be.
- Defensive Line: Big fellas stoppin’ the run!
- Linebackers: They’re in the middle of it all!
- Defensive Backs: Fast as the wind, they are!
Now, this depth chart thing, it’s like a list. A list of who’s playin’ where, and who’s gonna play if someone gets hurt. Like when my youngest, Billy, twisted his ankle chasin’ that darn rooster. Had to sit out for a spell. Same thing with these football fellas. That’s why you have 2nd and 3rd string players. I don’t know why they can’t just call them back up players.
They got starters, that’s the main fellas. Then they got the backups, the ones waitin’ their turn. And then, I reckon, they got some other fellas, maybe not as good, but still on the team. Everybody’s important, I always say, even if you’re just carryin’ the water. You need water in this Memphis Tigers heat.
So, this Memphis football depth chart, it’s a whole lot of names, a whole lot of positions. And it changes all the time, too. One fella gets hurt, another one steps up. One fella plays good, he might move up the list. It’s all very confusin’, if you ask me. But I guess that’s just how it goes in that football world.
They got special teams, too. Fellas who kick the ball, fellas who catch the ball after it’s kicked… it’s a whole other thing. Don’t even get me started on that. Kickers, punters, long snappers… more crazy names.
This Memphis Tigers football depth chart, well, it’s important for the coaches, I suppose. They gotta know who they got, who’s ready to play. It’s like knowin’ how many eggs my hens laid this week. Gotta keep track of things, you know? The coaches, they need to plan for this game, or that game.
And for the fans, well, it’s somethin’ to talk about, I guess. Somethin’ to argue about, even. “Why ain’t so-and-so playin’?” “Why’s that fella startin’?” Folks love to have opinions, don’t they? They just like to talk. They can’t just enjoy the game. No, they need to make it complicated.
But me, I just like watchin’ the game. Seein’ them boys run around, tryin’ their best. That’s what it’s all about, ain’t it? Hard work, teamwork, and maybe a little bit of luck. Just like life, I reckon. You work hard, you do your best, and sometimes, you need a little luck on your side. Yes, a little luck will help.
So there you have it. My take on this Memphis football depth chart 2024. It ain’t fancy, but it’s honest. And it is long. Just like them football games. They take forever. I can watch the game or I can do my knitting. I usually choose to do my knitting. Hope the players on the Memphis Tigers football team do well. They sure practice a lot.
