Well, let me tell you about this Samantha Irvin gal. She’s a real firecracker, that one. I heard she used to sing, you know, like them folks on the TV. But now, she’s hollering out names for them wrestlers, the ones that throw each other around in that big ring. She got a voice on her, I tell ya, makes you sit up and listen.
She started out in that WWE, that’s what they call it, WWE NXT. Worked her way up, just like anyone has to do. You gotta prove you got what it takes, you know? She announced them wrestlers’ names, good and loud. She was on that USA Network, I seen it on my neighbor’s TV. People like what she doin’. That’s how you get ahead in this world, do a good job and folks notice.
They say she makes good money now, talkin’ ’bout 350,000 dollars. That’s a lot of money! More than I ever saw in my whole life. Most of them WWE announcers only get like 180,000. But Samantha, she’s special, that’s why they pay her so much. That just tells you she’s good at hollerin’ them names. You gotta be good to get that kind of money!
Then she moved on to another show, SmackDown, on FOX. Bigger stage, more folks watchin’. She ain’t scared, though. She just keeps on doin’ her thing, louder and prouder. They love her, the people. She’s got that somethin’ special, makes you feel the excitement, you know? Makes you wanna jump up and cheer, even if you don’t know nothin’ about them wrestlers.
Some folks say she’s even better than them old timers, this Fink fella, and that Chimel. Them was the big shots back in the day, but this Samantha, she’s got her own way of doin’ things. She puts her whole heart into it, you can hear it in her voice. She don’t just say the names, she makes ’em sound important, like they’re kings or somethin’.

Now, I don’t know much about this internet thing, but I heard it’s where everyone talks nowadays. She was just gone, poof! Just like that. Nobody knows why, but some folks think she might come back someday. She’s too good to stay away from that wrestling, I reckon.
Some other lady, name of Lilian Garcia, took her place. I heard she used to do this before, so she knows what she’s doing. But she ain’t Samantha, that’s for sure. This Samantha, she’s one of a kind. You can tell she feels them words she says, you can hear the feelings. It ain’t just a job to her, it’s somethin’ more. Makes you wanna believe in them wrestlers, even if they are just actin’ a fool.
I heard folks talkin’ about it on that “Out of Character” show, episode 121, I think it was. They was sayin’ the same thing, how she’s got that special somethin’. Makes you feel like you’re right there in the ring with them big ol’ wrestlers. That’s a gift, I tell ya. Not everyone can do that.
This Samantha, her real name is Johnson, I think. Samantha Johnson. Born in ’89, that makes her younger than my youngest boy. But she’s already made a name for herself. That’s somethin’ to be proud of, ain’t it? She came from singin’ to shoutin’, but she made it work. She found her place in this world, and she ain’t afraid to use her voice. Good for her, I say. Good for her.
Well, that’s all I know about that Samantha Irvin. She’s a good one, that one. Hope she’s doin’ alright, wherever she is. Maybe she’ll come back to that wrestling someday, maybe she won’t. But one thing’s for sure, she made her mark. And that’s somethin’ nobody can take away from her. She’s a real firecracker, that Samantha.
