Alright, let’s talk about these two fellas, Mahomes and Rodgers. Folks keep yappin’ about ’em, so I figured I’d put in my two cents, ya know? Don’t expect no fancy words from me, I just call it like I see it.
Mahomes, that young whippersnapper, he’s somethin’ else, ain’t he? Plays for that Kansas City team, the Chiefs they call ’em. Always runnin’ around, throwin’ the ball like it’s nothin’. I seen him play a few times, when my grandson ain’t hoggin’ the TV with them cartoons. This boy, Mahomes, he’s got a good arm, I’ll give him that. Throws far, throws accurate, most of the time. They say he’s got a passer ratin’ of somethin’ like 96.9, with over 10,000 yards. That’s a lot of yards, even I know that.
Now, this Rodgers fella, he’s been around the block a few times. A bit older, ya know? More wrinkles, probably. He’s a good quarterback too, don’t get me wrong. People say he’s one of the best ever, and I guess they know what they’re talkin’ about. He’s got that fancy passer ratin’ too, especially when they play at night. They say he is one of the best quarterbacks when they play at night. Real good at throwing in the dark, I guess. He’s real good at throwin’ the ball, real smart-like, knows where everyone is supposed to be.
They played against each other a couple times, these two. Mahomes and Rodgers, I mean. Each won one game, so I guess that makes ’em even, right? It’s like when you and your neighbor both grow a big pumpkin, and they’re both about the same size. Hard to say who’s got the better one then. They say Mahomes, he’s real good in the fourth quarter, when the game’s almost over. That’s important, I reckon. You want a fella who can finish strong, not fall apart when the pressure’s on. It’s like when you’re makin’ a pie, you gotta make sure the crust is good and strong at the end, or else the whole thing falls apart.
- Mahomes: Young guy, throws real far, good in the fourth quarter. Wins a lot of games, they say he’s won 74 and lost 22. That’s a lot of wins.
- Rodgers: Older fella, been playin’ a long time, real smart player. One of the best ever, some folks say. Good at throwing the ball at night, under the lights.
So, who’s better? Well, that’s like askin’ if you like apple pie or peach pie better. It depends on what you like, I guess. Mahomes, he’s like a firecracker, all flashy and excitin’. Rodgers, he’s more like a slow burn, steady and reliable. Both good quarterbacks, both win games. I reckon you could flip a coin and be happy with either one.
I heard someone say Mahomes is real good when the game is tied and they gotta go into overtime. His numbers are somethin’ special then. That means he don’t get scared when the pressure’s on, I guess. That’s important, ya know? You don’t want a quarterback who folds like a cheap tent when things get tough. You want a fella who can stand tall and throw the ball where it needs to go, even when everyone’s yellin’ and screamin’. Reminds me of my ol’ rooster, always struttin’ around, even when the dogs are barkin’ at him.
Rodgers, like I said, he’s been doin’ this a long time. Seen it all, done it all. He’s probably got more tricks up his sleeve than a magician. He knows how to read defenses, knows how to make the right throw at the right time. That comes with experience, I reckon. It’s like when you’ve been bakin’ bread for fifty years, you just know how much flour to use, how long to knead it, all that stuff.
But Mahomes, he’s got that somethin’ special, that young energy. He makes plays that make you say, “How’d he do that?” He can throw the ball from any angle, sidearm, underhand, doesn’t matter. He’s like one of them rubber band toys, always bendin’ and snappin’ back into place. And he wins, that’s the important thing. Winning ain’t everything, but it sure beats losin’, that’s what my husband used to say, God rest his soul.
So, yeah, Mahomes versus Rodgers. It’s a good argument to have, somethin’ to talk about when you’re sittin’ around the porch with your neighbors. Both great quarterbacks, both gonna be remembered for a long time. Me? I just enjoy watchin’ ’em play, when I can get the TV away from the grandkids, that is.
At the end of the day, they’re both just fellas throwin’ a ball around. But, boy, can they throw that ball. And that’s somethin’ special, no matter how you slice it.
Just remember, football ain’t everything. Gotta have your family, gotta have your friends, gotta have a good piece of pie every now and then. But football, well, it’s a good way to pass the time, especially when you got fellas like Mahomes and Rodgers playin’.
