Alright, let’s yak about this Colts and Bengals game, you know, the one with all them fellas runnin’ around. We gonna look at them player stats, see who did what. It ain’t gonna be fancy, just plain talk, like you and me sittin’ on the porch, sippin’ sweet tea.
Now, first off, these two teams, the Indianapolis Colts and them Cincinnati Bengals, they been buttin’ heads for a long time. Played a whole bunch of games, somethin’ like 33 times, they say. Sometimes the Colts win, sometimes the Bengals win, that’s just how it goes. I reckon you can find all them scores somewhere on that internet thingy, but I ain’t got time for that. What I’m lookin’ at is how them players did, you know, who caught the ball, who threw it, and who tackled who.
This last game, well, the Colts, they scored, what was it, 14 points? And the Bengals, they got somethin’ more, maybe 34. That ain’t good for the Colts, no sir. But let’s dig a little deeper, see if we can figure out why.
- Colts Quarterback: Now, this fella, he’s the one throwin’ the ball. We gotta see if he did a good job or not. Did he throw it to his own guys or to the other team? And how many times did he get sacked? Sacked means them big ol’ Bengals fellas jumped on him, and that ain’t good. I heard them Colts fellas got sacked 24 times this season, that’s a lot of hurtin’.
- Colts Running Back: This guy, he carries the ball, tries to run through them Bengals. Did he run far or did they stop him quick? We need to know how many yards he got, you know, how far he went.
- Colts Wide Receivers: These fellas, they catch the ball the quarterback throws. Did they catch it or did they drop it? And how many times did they get the ball? More catches, more chances to score.
- Bengals Quarterback: Same thing here, we gotta see if he threw the ball good. Did he make them Colts fellas look silly or did they keep up with him?
- Bengals Running Back: Did he run all over the Colts or did they hold him back? Yards, yards, yards, that’s what matters.
- Bengals Wide Receivers: How many balls did they catch? Did they score touchdowns? That’s the big points, touchdowns.
See, it’s all about comparing. You look at one fella on the Colts and you look at the fella on the Bengals doin’ the same job, and you see who did better. Like, if the Colts quarterback threw for 200 yards and the Bengals quarterback threw for 300, well, that tells you somethin’, don’t it?
Now, I heard tell that the Bengals defense ain’t so good this year. They sayin’ it’s one of the worst in the whole league. That means them Colts fellas shoulda been able to score more points, but they didn’t, did they? So maybe them Colts players didn’t play so good, or maybe the Bengals defense had a good day, I don’t know. That’s why we lookin’ at the stats, to try and figure it out.
This here “head-to-head” thing, that’s just fancy talk for comparin’ the teams. Like, who won the most games between them? And what’s the score usually like when they play? I think the Colts won more games overall, somethin’ like 21, but this time, the Bengals got ‘em good, 34 to 14. The Bengals, they don’t score much usually, only about 13.5 points a game this year. But they sure scored a lot against the Colts, didn’t they?
And then there’s the points thing. They say the Bengals score about 21.8 points a game when they play the Colts on average, and the Colts score more, like 25.8. But this last game, well the Colts only scored 14, and that ain’t gonna cut it. So, we look at all this stuff, the yards, the catches, the touchdowns, and it tells us a story about the game. It tells us who played good and who didn’t. It ain’t perfect, mind you, sometimes a fella can have a lot of yards but still lose the game. But it gives you a pretty good idea.
So, when you lookin’ at these Colts vs Bengals player stats, you gotta remember it’s all about seein’ who did what and how that helped their team win or lose. Don’t get all caught up in the fancy numbers, just look at who did better at their job, that’s all it is. And remember, sometimes the best player don’t always win, just like sometimes the best cook burns the biscuits, ya know? It’s all part of the game.
