Alright, let’s talk about this Dellavedova fella. I heard folks call him Delly, so I guess I will too. Don’t rightly know how to spell it, but that ain’t never stopped me from talkin’ ’bout someone. This Delly, they say he plays basketball. Now, I ain’t watched much basketball since my grandson stopped playin’ in high school, but I reckon it’s still the same – runnin’ around, throwin’ a ball, tryin’ to get it in that hoop thingy.
Delly’s career, eh? Been around a while, I guess. They say he played for somethin’ called the Cavaliers for nine seasons. Nine seasons! That’s a long time to be chasin’ after a ball, seems to me. Must be good at it, or they wouldn’t keep him around, right? He plays guard, whatever that means. I always thought guards were supposed to stand still and, you know, guard somethin’, like a gate or a henhouse. But I guess in basketball, guards run around just as much as the other fellas.
Now, these numbers folks talk about, the “stats” they call ‘em, I ain’t too good with numbers, never was. But I heard tell Delly scored somethin’ like 5.2 points a game, on average. Sounds like a decent amount, I guess. More than I score knittin’ sweaters, that’s for sure. He also gets somethin’ called rebounds, 1.7 they say. Rebounds? Sounds like bouncing, maybe he’s good at catchin’ the ball after it bounces? And assists, 3.5. Assists… maybe he helps other fellas get the ball in the hoop? See, I’m learnin’ this basketball lingo.

He plays for the Sacramento Kings now, is what I hear. Kings, huh? Sounds fancy. I wonder if they wear crowns. Probably not, that would be silly on a basketball court. They say he’s Australian too. Australia! That’s a long ways away. I hear they got kangaroos over there. Wonder if Delly ever played basketball with a kangaroo? Now that would be somethin’ to see.
He played 479 games in his career with them Cavaliers. That’s a lot of games. I wonder how many miles he’s run in all them games? I bet it’s a lot. More than I’ve walked in my whole life, I’ll tell you that much. And they got all sorts of other numbers about him, shootin’ numbers and such. But my head starts spinnin’ when they get into all that. All I know is, this Delly fella must be a pretty good basketball player, playin’ all them games and runnin’ around like a chicken with its head cut off. He’s been around the block a few times, that’s for sure. And that’s about all I got to say about this Delly fella and his… what do they call ‘em? Stats.
So, there you have it, a little somethin’ about Delly’s basketball stuff. I may not know all the fancy terms or understand all them numbers, but I reckon I got the gist of it. He plays, he runs, he helps his team, and he’s been doin’ it for a long time. Good for him, I say. It’s better than sittin’ around doin’ nothin’, that’s for sure.
Now, if you’ll excuse me, I got to go make some supper. All this basketball talk made me hungry. Maybe I’ll make some kangaroo stew tonight, in honor of Delly and his Australian roots. Just kiddin’! I ain’t got no kangaroo, just good ol’ chicken. But it’ll do.
Anyways, that’s the story on this Delly fella, as best as I can tell it. He plays basketball, and he’s been at it for a while. Seems like a hard worker, and that’s somethin’ I can always appreciate. Whether he’s scorin’ points, grabbin’ rebounds, or assistin’ his teammates, he’s out there givin’ it his all. And that’s good enough for me.
