Well, let me tell you somethin’ about these UFC bags, or whatever you young folks call ’em. I ain’t no fancy fighter or nothin’, but I seen my share of bags in my day. Used to carry potatoes and corn in ’em, much heavier than anythin’ those fellers be punchin’.
Now, these bags, they ain’t just for show, no sir. You see them fellers on the TV, beatin’ the tar outta them things? It ain’t just for fun, I tell ya. They gotta be strong, real strong, to take a beatin’ like that. I heard they come in different weights, somethin’ like 80 to 120 pounds. Land sakes, that’s heavy! Heavier than a sack of feed, I reckon.
Some of them bags, they got water inside. Imagine that! Water in a bag you’re supposed to punch. Sounds silly, but I guess it works. They say it helps them fellers get stronger, learn how to take a punch, too. Not just punchin’, but kickin’ too! Them fellers be kickin’ them bags somethin’ fierce. My old bones wouldn’t last a minute doin’ that.
- Strong Bags: Gotta be tough to last.
- Heavy Bags: Makes you strong, they say.
- Water Bags: For punchin’ and kickin’, I guess.
They say you can punch and kick these bags every day if you want. Every day! I can barely get outta bed every day, let alone punch somethin’ that heavy. But these fellers, they do it to get in shape. Conditionin’, they call it. Strengthens their hands and feet, makes ’em tough. Guess it’s like choppin’ wood all day, only you’re hittin’ a bag instead.
Now, I heard talk about different kinds of bags too. Some hang from the ceiling, some stand on their own. Fancy stuff, I tell ya. But it all boils down to the same thing: hittin’ somethin’ hard. And it ain’t just about hittin’ hard, it’s about hittin’ right. They gotta learn how to take the recoil, the bounce back, from hittin’ somethin’ solid. It ain’t like hittin’ them soft pads, that’s for sure.
And then there’s the bags they carry their stuff in, the gym bags. Not for hittin’, mind you, but for carryin’ their clothes and shoes and whatnots. They say a medium-sized one is best, about 20 inches long. Big enough for all their sweaty gear, but small enough to fit in them little lockers they got at them fancy gyms. And it gotta be strong too, to hold all that smelly stuff. They even got separate places for dirty clothes and shoes. Imagine that! Separate places for dirty things! Back in my day, everything just went in the same bag, dirty or not.
So, what’s the best bag? Well, I reckon it depends on what you’re doin’. If you’re fightin’, you need a heavy one, one that can take a beatin’. If you’re just carryin’ your stuff, you need a strong one, with plenty of room. And no matter what, you need somethin’ that’s gonna last. ‘Cause nothin’s worse than a bag that falls apart on ya, whether you’re hittin’ it or carryin’ it. No matter what you love to do, ya gotta have the right tools, right?
And that’s all I gotta say about these UFC bags. They ain’t for the faint of heart, that’s for sure. But if you’re lookin’ to get strong, or just need a place to put your sweaty clothes, I guess they’ll do the trick.
