Alright, let’s gab about this Danielle Collins gal, the tennis player. Folks wanna know about her folks, her ma and pa, you know? So, lemme tell ya what I heard.
Danielle Collins, who’s she, anyway?
Well, this Danielle, they call her Danielle Rose Collins, but mostly just Danielle Collins, she was born a while back, December 13, 1993, in a place called St. Petersburg. Not our St. Petersburg, mind you, the one down in Florida. Heard it’s real nice down there, warm all the time. Not like here, where the winters bite ya like a grumpy old dog.
Her folks, who are they?
Now, her parents, they’re named Walter and Cathy Collins. Plain folks, like you and me. Not fancy or nothin’. They say her daddy, Walter, he taught her how to play tennis when she was just a little tyke, eight years old they say. Imagine that, a little thing swingin’ a racket bigger than her arm! That Walter, he must’ve seen somethin’ special in her.
- Daddy Walter: The one who got her started with tennis. Seems like a hands-on kinda fella, teachin’ his little girl the ropes.
- Momma Cathy: Don’t hear much about her, but she’s gotta be there, supportin’ Danielle, you know how mothers are. Always in the background, makin’ sure everything’s alright.
No silver spoon, I tell ya!
They didn’t have a whole heap of money, the Collins family. Lived modest, they say. Worked hard for what they got, I reckon. Ain’t nothin’ wrong with that. Builds character, they say. Makes ya appreciate what ya have. And look at Danielle now, playin’ tennis all over the world! Guess that hard work paid off.
Tennis, tennis, tennis!
This girl, she was somethin’ else on the court. Trained for six years at this Isla del Sol Country Club. Sounds fancy, but I bet it was just a bunch of tennis courts and a place to change yer shoes. She played and played, and she got good, real good. Went on to win all sorts of matches. Even made it to the finals of the Australian Open, whatever that is. Big deal, I hear.
Clothes and such
Now, these tennis players, they get sponsors, ya know? Companies give ‘em clothes and shoes to wear so they can advertise their stuff. Danielle, she had a sponsor, but then it ended. For a while, she was wearin’ clothes from some yoga company, looked comfy enough. But now she’s got a new sponsor, FP Movement they call ‘emselves. Gonna keep her lookin’ sharp on the court, I guess.
Retirement? Not so fast!
Heard she was thinkin’ ‘bout retirin’ from tennis, startin’ a family and all. But then life throws ya a curveball, doesn’t it? Seems she had some troubles with havin’ babies, somethin’ called endometriosis. So, she decided to keep playin’ tennis for a while longer. Good for her, I say. Do what makes ya happy, that’s what I always say.
So, there ya have it. That’s the story of Danielle Collins and her folks, Walter and Cathy. Just regular people who raised a daughter to be strong and follow her dreams. And that’s somethin’ to be proud of, wouldn’t you say?
More about Danielle’s tennis journey
Now, I heard this little tidbit on the radio the other day. Seems after Danielle won a big match, she talked about how much her daddy’s coaching meant to her. Said he defied the odds, teaching her the way he did. That’s somethin’, ain’t it? A daddy’s love and support, it can take ya far. Reminds me of my own kids, bless their hearts.
So, next time ya see Danielle Collins smackin’ that little yellow ball, remember her folks, Walter and Cathy. They’re the ones who helped her get there. Good people, I reckon. Just good, plain folks.
