Alright, so listen up, y’all. We gonna talk about this fella, Lindor, and his big ol’ contract. Folks keep jabberin’ about it, so I figured I’d put in my two cents, even if it ain’t worth much.
Now, they tell me this Lindor fella, he plays that baseball game. You know, the one with the stick and the ball? Yeah, that one. Apparently, he’s pretty darn good at it. Good enough that them New York Mets, they went and give him a whole heap of money. We’re talkin’ a ten-year contract, they say.
Ten years! Can you imagine? That’s like, forever! I can barely remember what I had for breakfast, let alone plan ten years out. But these city folks, they think different, I guess.
So, this contract, they say it’s worth somethin’ like $341 million. That’s a number so big, I can’t even wrap my head around it. It’s got more zeros than my old bingo card. They say that makes him the highest-paid player in Mets history. Well, good for him, I reckon. Hope he spends it wisely, not like them youngsters with their fancy cars and whatnots.
- They also say he got some extra stuff in that contract, like, “clauses” and “incentives”. Sounds fancy, don’t it? Probably just means he gets more money if he hits the ball real hard or somethin’. I don’t know, these city lawyers, they sure do like to complicate things.
- Now, some folks online, they’re sayin’ even with all that money, he’s still “underpaid.” Can you believe that? $341 million ain’t enough for some folks. They say he’s worth even more, based on how well he’s playin’. I tell ya, these city folks got more money than sense.
They figure this Lindor fella, he’s got a net worth of over $100 million. That’s more money than most folks see in a lifetime. He probably don’t even have to worry about the price of eggs no more. Lucky duck.
And get this, they even talkin’ about another fella, this Soto guy, who just signed a contract for $765 million! For fifteen years! Can you even imagine? That’s enough to buy a whole dang town, I reckon. Makes Lindor’s contract look like chump change, even though it’s still more than I’ll ever see.
They also mentioned somethin’ about Lindor buying a big ol’ house for $20 million. Twenty million dollars for a house! What in the world does a house that expensive even look like? Does it have gold toilets or somethin’? I bet it’s got more rooms than my whole house and barn put together.
So, they say Lindor’s salary for the first year, 2021, was $22.3 million. Just think about that for a minute. That’s more than most folks make in a lifetime! He made that in just one year! Makes you wonder what he does with all that money. Probably got a whole room full of baseball bats and gloves.
Anyway, that’s the gist of it. This Lindor fella, he signed a big ol’ contract with the Mets for a whole lot of money. Some folks think he’s worth it, some folks think he’s underpaid. Me? I just think it’s a whole lotta money, more than anyone I ever knew ever seen. But hey, if they wanna pay him that much, that’s their business. Just hope he remembers where he came from and does some good with it.
I guess that’s how it is in the big city. Big money, big contracts, big everything. Me, I’m just happy to have a roof over my head and food on the table. But it’s still kinda fun to hear about these things, ain’t it?
