Alright, let’s talk about this… uh… what’s it called? mcilroy pebble beach thing. Yeah, that golf stuff.
So, this fella, Rory, right? Rory Mc… Mc… somethin’ or other. He’s good at hittin’ that little white ball, I guess. Folks seem to make a big fuss about him. He was playin’ at this Pebble Beach place. Fancy name, huh? Sounds like somethin’ you’d find on the beach, like a pretty rock or somethin’. But it ain’t no rock; it’s a golf place, a big ol’ field with little holes all over it.
Now, this other fella, Wyndham Clark, he went and did somethin’ special. Shot a real low score, they say. A 60, whatever that means. Folks say it’s the best ever done on that there Pebble Beach field. Good for him, I say. He must’ve been hittin’ that ball real good that day. Made history, they say. Like them fellas on the TV talk about – presidents and such. Guess hittin’ a little ball can make you famous too, who knew?
Rory, though, he didn’t do so hot on the second day. Shot a 74. That’s higher than 60, so not as good, see? But he still won somethin’ with his partner, some fella named Jeff. A “Pro-Am” title, they called it. Sounds like somethin’ you get at a county fair, a blue ribbon or somethin’. But it’s golf, so it’s probably a fancy trophy or somethin’. Beats a blue ribbon, I reckon.
- The Golf Course: Pebble Beach, they say it’s a pretty place. But when is a good time to go see these fellas hit the ball? Seems like April to October is best, ‘specially in the summer. Wintertime ain’t so good, too much rain and wind. You gotta dress warm if you go then. And they say you gotta have drinks while some fella plays the bagpipes at somethin’ called Spanish Bay. Sounds like a lot of fuss just to watch folks hit a ball, but hey, to each their own.
- Rory’s Schedule: And this Rory fella, he’s gonna play again, at some place called Spyglass Hill. Sounds spooky, like somethin’ out of a ghost story. He’s playin’ with another fella, Ludvig somethin’-or-other. They’re startin’ late in the afternoon, 4:45, somethin’ called “Irish Time.” Don’t know why it’s Irish time, time is time, ain’t it? But I guess these golf folks do things different.
So, that’s the gist of it. Rory hittin’ balls, Wyndham hittin’ balls better, and Pebble Beach bein’ a place where they hit balls. And if you wanna go watch, go in the summer and bring a warm coat just in case. And don’t forget to listen to the bagpipes, apparently that’s important. Honestly, it all sounds a bit silly to me, but those fellas seem to enjoy it, and folks like watchin’ ‘em. More power to ‘em, I say. As long as they ain’t stealin’ my chickens, they can hit balls all they want.
Important thing to remember: if you’re plannin’ to go watch these fellas play, remember what I told ya. Summer is good, winter is bad. And bring a warm jacket, even if it’s summer. You never know with the weather. And bring some money for those drinks at sunset, sounds expensive.
And that’s all I know about this mcilroy pebble beach thing. Hope it made some sense to ya. It’s just a bunch of fellas hittin’ a ball around a field, far as I can tell. But hey, folks seem to like it, so who am I to judge?
