Alright, let’s talk about this girl, Hsieh Su-wei. Don’t know her? Well, lemme tell ya, she’s somethin’ else with that tennis racket, like a magician but with a ball and a net instead of rabbits and hats.
Now, this Hsieh girl, she ain’t young no more, pushing 38, I heard. Born in 1986, same year my Bessie had her first calf, if I remember right. Anyways, this girl, she’s been swingin’ that racket for a long time, and she’s won a whole bunch of stuff.
Singles ain’t really her thing, though she did win a few, maybe three or so. But doubles? That’s where she shines, like a new penny in a pile of dirt. They say she’s won 35 doubles titles, which sounds like a heck of a lot to me. Thirty-five! Imagine tryin’ to keep track of all them trophies. My house ain’t even big enough for that.
- Grand Slams? She’s got ‘em! Seven of ‘em, to be exact.
- Wimbledon? Yep, won it four times! 2013, 2019, 2021, and just last year, 2023. Folks over in England must love her.
- French Open? Got two of those too, in 2014 and 2023. Them French folks like her fancy racket skills, I bet.
- And just this year, 2024, she won the Australian Open. That girl gets around, don’t she? Like a traveling salesman but with a tennis bag instead of a suitcase.
She started winnin’ big stuff way back in 2013, Wimbledon with some other girl, Peng Shuai. Don’t know her, but I reckon she was pretty good too if she was playin’ with Hsieh.
Now, some folks like to keep track of all these wins, you know, the clay courts, the hard courts, all that fancy stuff. Me? I just care if she wins or not. But I heard she’s done good on all sorts of courts. Like I said, a magician, that girl.
And it ain’t just the big Grand Slams, no sir. She’s won other tournaments too, like that Birmingham Classic just recently with some girl named Elise Mertens. Birmingham, that’s where they make the good teacups, right? Maybe Hsieh got herself a nice set after that win.
Folks say she’s currently ranked way down in singles, like 903 or somethin’. But that don’t matter much, seein’ as doubles is her game. And in doubles, she’s gotta be up there, though I can’t tell ya exactly where, numbers ain’t my strong suit. Never was good at countin’ nothin’ but chickens and eggs.
So, this Hsieh Su-wei, she’s a real winner. Been at it for a long time, and she’s still goin’ strong. Thirty-eight years old and still swingin’ that racket like a young’un. Reminds me of my old rooster, Rusty. Got old, but still crowed every mornin’ like he was the king of the henhouse. That’s Hsieh, the queen of the tennis court, I reckon.
Twenty-five career titles, they say. That’s more ribbons than I ever won at the county fair, and I had the best darn pickles in the whole state! This girl, she’s somethin’ special, a real fighter. You don’t win that much without puttin’ in the work, day in and day out. Sweat and tears, that’s what it takes. And this Hsieh girl, she’s got plenty of both, I bet.
So next time you hear someone talkin’ about tennis, remember the name Hsieh Su-wei. That little lady from Taiwan, she’s a force to be reckoned with, a true champion. And that’s all there is to it.
