Alright, so you wanna know about them Dodgers and them Yankees, huh? Them city fellas playing ball. I heard tell they had a match, or a “series” as them fancy folks call it. Sounded like a big to-do.
First off, them Dodgers, they were whuppin’ the Yankees good. Like, real good. Heard they won three games in a row right off the bat! Now, that’s somethin’. In them big “World Series” things, if you win three in a row, you pretty much got it in the bag. Folks say it happens almost all the time. Only once in a blue moon, some team comes back from that.
This Koufax fella, he pitched for the Dodgers. Sounded like a real humdinger. Pitched the whole game, twice! And didn’t let them Yankees score much at all. Struck out a whole mess of ’em too. Twenty-three fellas went back to the bench swingin’ at nothin’. That Yamamoto fella, he pitched good too, shut down them Yankees like a screen door in a hurricane.
- Koufax pitched real good.
- Yamamoto shut down them Yankees.
- Dodgers won three games right away.
Now, the Yankees, they did manage to win a game or two after that. Heard they even avoided gettin’ swept, which is somethin’, I guess. But them Dodgers, they was just too strong. This Freeman fella, he kept hittin’ them home runs, one after another. And Buehler, he pitched another good game. Sounded like them Yankees just couldn’t catch a break.
I heard tell they played a game on October 29th, and another on October 30th. Folks keepin’ track of all sorts of numbers, like how many hits and runs and all that. They call ’em “stats.” I don’t pay much mind to that stuff, but I reckon it matters to some folks. They got these things called “box scores” where they write it all down. AB, R, H, RBI… Lordy, it’s enough to make your head spin.
Them Dodgers, they just kept hittin’ and pitchin’ better. It was like watchin’ a rooster chase a hen – one-sided, you know? I reckon that’s why them Dodgers won. They was just the better team that day, or them days, I should say. They played hard, and they played smart, and that’s all there is to it.
They say these teams played way back in 2010 too, at Dodger Stadium. Been goin’ at it for a while, I guess. Baseball, it’s a game that folks love, been around forever. Even us old folks can understand that much. Win or lose, it’s about the game, ain’t it? And them Dodgers, well, they sure played a good one this time around.
Now, I ain’t no expert, mind you. Just tellin’ it like I heard it. But from what I gather, the Dodgers whooped them Yankees fair and square. They hit the ball, they pitched the ball, and they caught the ball better. And that’s how you win ball games, plain and simple.
