Okay, so lemme tell you about my day trip to Eagle Park in Calera, AL. It wasn’t some grand adventure, but it was a solid afternoon of chilling and getting some fresh air.

It all started with me waking up way later than I intended. Snoozed like five times, you know how it is. Finally dragged myself out of bed, grabbed a quick bite, and thought, “Hey, I need to get outta this house.” Eagle Park popped into my head ’cause I’d seen some pics online and it looked pretty decent. Plus, it’s not too far of a drive.
Hopped in the car, punched the address into my GPS, and off I went. The drive itself was pretty chill, mostly backroads and not much traffic. Took maybe like 30-40 minutes, tops.
Got to the park and first thing I noticed was the parking situation. Plenty of spots, which is always a win. Found a spot near the entrance and started wandering around.
First Impressions: It’s a nice, clean park. Lots of green space, big trees, and a playground area for the kiddos. Saw a bunch of families having picnics and kids running around, just good vibes all around.
I decided to just take a stroll along the walking trail. It’s paved, so easy peasy. Just put in my earbuds, cranked up some tunes, and started walking. The trail winds around the park, and there are a few benches along the way if you need to take a break.
Kept walking and saw a few folks fishing in the pond. Didn’t have my gear with me, but it looked like they were having some luck. Might have to bring my rod next time.
After walking the trail once, I found a nice, shady spot under a big oak tree and just chilled for a bit. People-watched, listened to music, and generally just relaxed. Honestly, that was the best part of the whole thing. Just unwinding and enjoying the peace and quiet.
Around late afternoon, I started getting a little hungry, so I packed up my stuff and headed back to the car. Stopped by a local burger joint on the way home and grabbed some grub.

Overall: Eagle Park is a solid little spot for a relaxing afternoon. It’s not gonna blow your mind or anything, but it’s clean, well-maintained, and a great place to get some fresh air. I’d definitely recommend it if you’re looking for a low-key park to visit in the Calera area.
- Pros: Clean, well-maintained, plenty of parking, walking trail, playground, fishing pond.
- Cons: Not a ton of “activities” if you’re looking for something super exciting. It’s more of a relax and unwind kinda place.
Would I go back? Yeah, probably. It’s a good spot to clear your head and just get away from the daily grind for a few hours.
