Alright, let’s talk about figuring out Colette in Brawl Stars. Man, she felt weird when I first unlocked her. That whole percentage damage thing? Took me a bit to wrap my head around it, not gonna lie. I kept trying to play her like any other damage dealer and just got wiped constantly.

My First Attempts – Total Mess
So, I started messing around with her builds. What else are you gonna do? I think I first tried her Push It Star Power. My thinking was, okay, I can push enemies into bad spots or away from me. Seemed smart, right?
- Tried it in Gem Grab. Ended up pushing gem carriers away from my team sometimes. Whoops.
- In Brawl Ball, sometimes it helped clear a path, but mostly, it just felt chaotic and didn’t help secure kills.
It just wasn’t clicking. Felt like I wasn’t contributing enough damage, just being a mild annoyance before getting vaporized.
Switching Things Up
Then I thought, okay, maybe the other Star Power, Mass Tax, is the way. More consistent damage on the Super, especially against beefy targets. So I switched to that. It felt… better? Yeah, definitely better. Chipping down tanks felt more impactful.
Next up was the Gadget. I remember initially using Gotcha!. The healing seemed nice on paper because, let’s face it, Colette is squishy. But in reality, I found myself rarely getting full value from it. If I was low enough to need the heal desperately, I was usually already out of position and about to die anyway. It felt like a band-aid on a bullet wound.
So, I swapped to Na-ah!. Oh man, game changer. Being able to cancel an enemy Super? Huge. Saved my skin, and my teammates’, countless times. Suddenly I felt like I had this secret weapon to shut down big plays. It just felt way more proactive and useful.
Settling on a Build (For Now)
So this is what I’ve been running mostly:
- Star Power: Mass Tax
- Gadget: Na-ah!
- Gears: Usually Damage and Shield. Pretty standard, helps her survive a bit longer and secure those low-health kills after her main attack chunks them.
This setup feels the most comfortable for me. I focus on hitting those first shots to lower their health, then use the Super (boosted by Mass Tax) to finish or get them really low, and keep Na-ah! ready for any dangerous Ultimates coming my way. It’s not foolproof, positioning is still super important with her, more than with many other brawlers I play.
Honestly, I spent a whole weekend pretty much just playing Colette, trying to get this right. The kids were away at their grandparents’, so I had the quiet house to myself and just ground out matches. It took that focused time, getting deleted over and over, before it started to make sense. She’s still not my absolute main, but now when I pick her, I feel like I actually know what I’m doing, which is a nice change.
