Well now, let me tell ya ’bout this fella, Marquarius White. Folks around here call him Squirrel, ’cause when he was just a little tyke, he’d move all fast and jittery like a squirrel chasin’ after a nut. His great-grandma started callin’ him Squirrel when he was a baby, holdin’ him in her arms. Said he’d wiggle around just like one of them little critters in her garden. Ain’t that somethin’?
Now, this young man, Marquarius, he’s somethin’ special. Played football at Tennessee, and they’ve all been talkin’ ‘bout him for quite some time. Started out as a freshman in 2022, and didn’t take long for them coaches to see that he wasn’t afraid of nothin’. He’d take a good hit from them big ol’ defensive players, and just bounce right back up, ready to keep goin’. It takes a lotta grit and guts to do that, especially when you’re just gettin’ started.
They say Squirrel’s fast as a rabbit too, runnin’ all over the field, causin’ trouble for the other team. He’s a slot receiver, which means he’s quick, and he knows how to get in and outta tight spaces. Played in 12 games his first year, and even started in them last two games, showin’ what he was made of. Had 30 catches for 481 yards, and two touchdowns. Not bad for a rookie, huh?
Before all this, he was down in Alabama, playin’ high school ball at Clay-Chalkville High. There, he racked up 49 catches, 1,162 yards, and 16 touchdowns in his senior year. Ain’t that impressive? Folks down there say he was one of the best players they ever seen, always outpacing everyone else on the field. And when you hear about him makin’ them big plays in high school, it don’t surprise ya none that he’s doin’ so well in college.
Now, let me tell ya, this boy ain’t just about football. He’s a fine young man, and he’s been workin’ hard, stayin’ focused on what’s important. His commitment to Tennessee? Well, he shut down all them other offers from different schools and said, “I’m gonna stick with the Vols.” Ain’t no question where his heart’s at.
Back to his first year with Tennessee though, them coaches saw real potential in him. Speed, toughness, and a willin’ness to put in the work. He showed up and showed out, and it didn’t take long for everyone to see he’s gonna be a big deal in the years to come. Ain’t no doubt he’ll be playin’ for them big teams in the future, maybe even in the pros. But for now, he’s focused on doin’ right by his team, his coaches, and himself.
Squirrel’s got a whole lotta folks rootin’ for him, and I reckon he’s gonna make a lotta noise in college football in the years ahead. With all that speed and heart, you just can’t ignore him. So keep an eye on Marquarius Squirrel White, ‘cause you’re gonna be hearin’ a lot more ‘bout him as time goes on. He’s just gettin’ started.
