Okay, so I’ve been diving deep into Nikke, and let me tell you, figuring out which characters are top-tier and which ones are kinda…meh…has been a JOURNEY. I decided to make my own Nikke tier list, and boy, was it a process. Here’s how it went down:

First Steps: Getting My Bearings
I started by, well, playing the game. A LOT. I mean, you can’t really judge a character without actually using them, right? I tried out every single character I could get my hands on, throwing them into different team comps and seeing how they performed. I took some rough notes to organize my thoughts while doing this.
Experiment time
I started messing around with different team setups. Some characters I thought would be awesome turned out to be kinda “blah” in certain situations, while others surprised me with how useful they were. For example, I was using a really simple setup of characters, then swapped some in, swapped some out, to find what works best for me.
Making the List
After a few weeks of this, I finally felt ready to actually make the tier list. I used a simple Google Doc because, let’s be honest, I’m no design expert. I started by creating tiers: S (the best), A, B, C, and D (the…not-so-great). Then, I started slotting characters in.
- S Tier: These were the no-brainers, the characters that consistently carried my teams.
- A Tier: The really good ones, but maybe a little more situational or not quite as overpowered as the S-tiers.
- B Tier: Solid, dependable characters that could get the job done, but weren’t necessarily game-changers.
- C Tier: Characters that were okay in certain very specific situations, but generally not my first picks.
- D Tier: I put the ones I wouldn’t use often here.
Revisions, Revisions, Revisions
Even after I had my first draft, I kept tweaking it. I’d play more, try out new team comps, and realize, “Wait a minute, maybe this character is actually better than I thought!” or “Oops, I totally overestimated that one.” It was a constant back-and-forth.
It’s a continuous cycle of playing, testing, revising, and repeat! My tier list is a living document. As the game gets updated, new characters are added, and balance changes happen, I’ll be right back here, tweaking and adjusting to keep it as accurate as possible.
