Okay, so today I decided to dig into the stats from the 49ers vs. Kansas City Chiefs game. I’ve always been a bit of a data nerd, and I figured this would be a fun little project. Plus, I wanted to see if I could pull this info together myself.

Getting Started
First things first, I needed to find a place to get the data. I mean, you can’t just magically conjure up player stats, right? So, I hit up a few of the usual sports websites, looking for detailed game stats.
Collecting the Data
Once I found a good source, I started grabbing the info. This was mostly manual, you know? I went player by player, stat by stat, and started putting everything into a spreadsheet.
I mainly focused on these.
- Passing: Quarterback name, attempts, completions, yards, touchdowns, interceptions. All the usual stuff.
- Rushing: Player name, attempts, yards, touchdowns, longest run. You know, the basics.
- Receiving: Player name, receptions, yards, touchdowns, longest reception. Standard receiving stats.
- Defense: Didn’t focus too much here.
- Special Teams: Also, not much here.
Putting It All Together
After I got all the data, I started sorting it. It takes a little while. I made sure to double-check everything, because, let’s be honest, typos happen. The last thing I wanted was to mess up the numbers because I was rushing.
Final Touches
I spent a little while double-checking my spreadsheet against the website to make sure it * celebrate it!
It was a pretty cool way to spend an afternoon, and now I’ve got all this game data neatly organized.
It’s a little bit of busywork, a little bit of data wrangling, and a whole lot of satisfying when it’s all done!
