Okay, so today I wanted to dig into something that’s been bugging me for a while – the whole Vince Russo and Miss Elizabeth storyline in WCW. I’ve been watching some old Nitro episodes and, man, it’s a trip.

First, I went back and watched some of the key moments. I started with Elizabeth turning on Randy Savage at SuperBrawl VI. That was shocking at the time, and honestly, it still kind of is.
My Rewatch And Deep Dive
- I watched Elizabeth’s initial heel turn.
- Then, I followed her through the nWo storyline.
- Then,I checked out her joining with Lex Luger.
Then, when Russo came in, things got…weird. It’s like he decided to take everything that made Elizabeth a compelling character and just throw it out the * story with her and Luger,It’s so bad, it’s almost good, in a trainwreck kind of way.
I spent a good chunk of the afternoon trying to make sense of it all. I read some old forum posts, some shoot interviews, anything I could find to get some context. The general consensus seems to be that Russo just didn’t “get” Elizabeth, or maybe he just didn’t care. He saw her as a prop, someone to use to get heat on other people, rather than a character in her own right.
It’s frustrating because Elizabeth was so iconic. She was the “First Lady of Wrestling” for a reason. She had this elegance and grace, and she was a huge part of some of the biggest moments in wrestling history. To see her reduced to…that, it’s just disappointing.
I finished up my deep dive feeling kind of bummed out, to be honest. It’s a reminder that sometimes, even the most beloved characters can get lost in the shuffle. But it also made me appreciate the good times even more. Those classic Savage/Elizabeth moments? Still gold.
