Okay, so I wanted to figure out what the average PGA club head speed is. You know, just to see how I stack up against the pros. Spoiler alert: not great.

First, I jumped online to see what I could find. I figured there had to be some official stats out there somewhere.
I found some info stating that the average PGA Tour club head speed is updated pretty regularly. Turns out I landed on some fresh data. I discovered It’s a moving target, it seems!
- I learned that the average is calculated over many tournaments.
- I also realized that it changes!
I dug in a little more. Turns out, It’s almost 116 miles per hour. That’s… fast.
I grabbed my own driver and headed out to my local golf simulator. It’s not the PGA Tour, but it’ll give me a reading, right?
After warming up, I let a few rips. I swung as hard as I could, trying to channel my inner Rory McIlroy.
I checked the numbers. Nowhere near 116 mph. Let’s just say I have some work to do. I averaged more like 95mph.
So, that’s my little experiment. I confirmed what I pretty much already knew – those PGA guys are in a different league. But hey, at least I know the number I’m chasing!
