Okay, so the other day I was watching football with my buddies, and we got into this whole debate about running backs. Specifically, how tall they are. I always thought most of them were kinda short, you know, for agility and stuff. But my friend swore they were all getting bigger. So, being the curious guy I am, I decided to figure it out myself.

Digging into the Data
First, I grabbed my laptop and opened up a browser. I figured the best way to get a good answer was to look at the actual data. Not just guess, right?I didn’t use some fancy, complicated method. Nope, I wanted something quick and easy.
- I started by searching the Internet.
- I found websites that list all the players and their info, height included.
- I focused on listing with all the running backs.
Doing the Simple Math
I copied all those heights into a spreadsheet. I felt like a real data scientist for a minute there. I used the spreadsheet’s function for calculating the * spit out a number, the average height of all those running backs I’d put in!
I did a bit more digging, just to make sure my little experiment was on the right track. Turns out the real average height and it was pretty close to what the ‘official’ sources said. I was pretty stoked that my quick and dirty method actually worked!
So yeah, that’s how I spent my afternoon figuring out the average height of NFL running * was a fun little project, and I definitely learned something. Plus, now I can totally win that argument with my buddy!
