Okay, so the other day I was chilling, and I thought, “Why not try the NYT Crossword?” I’d heard about it, you know, how it’s like, the crossword. So I decided to give it a shot.

First, I just found the website. It’s pretty easy to find, honestly. Typed it into the search bar, and boom, there it was. I clicked on the current day’s puzzle.
Getting Started (and Stuck)
At first, I was feeling pretty good. I filled in some of the easier clues, the ones that popped into my head right away. You know, the short words, common knowledge stuff. I was like, “Yeah, I got this!”
- Found the website.
- Clicked into today’s puzzle.
- Solved a few easy ones.
But then… I hit a wall. Seriously, it was like staring at a bunch of blank squares, and my brain just went poof. No ideas. I started looking at some of the longer clues, and they were, well, cryptic. Like, what even is a seven-letter word for “esoteric concept”? I had no clue.
Trying Different things
I tried a few things. I looked at the crossing letters, thinking maybe that would help. I googled, a few words and phases, I am not gonna lie. I spent way more time than I thought I would, just staring at the screen, chewing on my pen, tapping my foot. Pure frustration. But then also kind of fun, in a weird, masochistic way. I did not give up!
- I tried crossing letters.
- I used search engine.
- I kept thinking.
Finally, it’s done!
In the end, I actually managed to finish it! It took me, like, hours, and I definitely had to use the “reveal” button a few times (don’t judge!), but I did it. The feeling when I filled in that last square? Amazing. It was like a little mental victory.
- I clicked the “reveal” button when necessary.
- I finished the puzzle.
- I got excited about the result.
So, yeah, that was my “once called NYT Crossword” experience. It was tough, but ultimately rewarding. I’m not sure I’ll do it every day, but I can definitely see the appeal. It’s a good way to challenge your brain, learn some new words, and feel that sweet, sweet sense of accomplishment. I recommend you guys to try it!
