Okay, so the other day I was feeling kinda blah. You know, one of those days where everything feels a bit gray? I figured I needed a little pick-me-up, and I remembered someone mentioning the NYT Mini Crossword as a fun, quick distraction. So, I decided to give it a shot.

Finding the Game
First things first, I had to find the darn thing. I opened up my browser and typed in “NYT Mini Crossword”. The search result i needed popped right up.
Starting the Puzzle
The mini crossword loaded up, and man, it’s mini. Just a little 5×5 grid. I figured, “Okay, this should be a breeze, right?” Famous last words, as they say.
Getting Stuck (and Unstuck)
I started filling in the clues I knew right away. Like, some of them were super obvious. I got a few words filled to build on.
But then… I hit a wall. There were a couple of clues that just stumped me. One of them, I stared at it for a good five minutes, racking my brain. Nope, nothing.
So, what did I do? I employed a highly sophisticated strategy…I looked at the across clues and down clues, trying any words and letters I can think of.
The Sweet Taste of Victory
After the little break, I came back to those tricky clues. And then, BAM! It hit me. I typed in the answer, and…it fit! The little animation that pops the crossword is completed.
The Aftermath
Honestly, after I finished the Mini, I felt a little bit better. It wasn’t some life-changing experience, but it was a nice little mental break. It gave my brain something else to focus on besides whatever was bumming me out. Plus, there’s that little sense of accomplishment you get from solving a puzzle, even a tiny one.
So, would I recommend the NYT Mini for a little cheering up? Yeah, I would. It’s quick, it’s free, and it’s a fun little challenge. It might not solve all your problems, but it can definitely help shift your focus and give you a little boost.
