Okay, so, I wanted to keep better track of my favorite team, the University of North Texas football team. I’m not a sports analyst or anything, but I like to know who’s playing and all that. So, I decided to make my own “unt football depth chart” to keep track of the players.
First, I opened up my browser and typed in “unt football roster.” The university’s athletics website was the first one that popped up, so I clicked on that. It had a nice list of all the players, with their names, numbers, positions, and some other info.
Then, I grabbed a piece of paper and a pen. Yeah, I know, old school. But I like writing things down sometimes. I started by writing down the main positions: Quarterback, Running Back, Wide Receiver, you know, the usual. Then under each position, I started listing the players who play there, going by their jersey numbers from the website.
It took a little while to get all the offensive players down, then I flipped the page and did the same for the defense. Defensive Line, Linebackers, Cornerbacks, Safeties – got them all. I even added a section for special teams, like the kicker and punter.
- Quarterback:
- #2 Johnson
- #10 Smith
- #15 Williams
- Running Back:
- #5 Davis
- #22 Brown
- #28 Wilson
- Wide Receiver:
- #1 Miller
- #8 Jones
- #11 Garcia
- #18 Rodriguez
As I was writing, I tried to figure out who the starters were. Sometimes the website would have that info, but other times I just had to guess based on who I remembered seeing play the most. It’s not perfect, but it’s good enough for me.
After I was done, I had a pretty good depth chart going. I decided to keep it by my computer so I can update it whenever I see a game or read some news about the team. It’s a simple thing, but it helps me feel more connected to the team and enjoy the games a little more.
It’s not rocket science or anything, I’m just a regular guy trying to keep up with college football. It’s nothing fancy, just my own way of tracking the Mean Green. I’m just doing this for fun and to keep myself informed.
Why I Do This
The real reason I do all this is simple. I just really like North Texas football. When I am watching the games, I like to know who’s out there on the field. This little depth chart helps me with that. I just want to keep up with my team, plain and simple.
