Today, I stumbled upon some buzz about Shuhei Yoshida and Elden Ring, so I thought, why not dive in and see what the fuss is all about? I grabbed my controller and fired up my console.
Getting Started
First off, I needed to get my hands on Elden Ring. I already had it downloaded from before, but if you don’t, you’ll need to buy it from your console’s store or a physical copy. Once I made sure it was updated to the latest version, I was good to go.
Jumping into the Game
I launched the game and man, the opening cinematic still gives me chills. I spent some time messing around with the character creation. It is fun, you know? Picking my class, tweaking my character’s look—it’s all part of the fun. I went with an Astrologer build this time, figuring I’d try my hand at some magic.
Exploring the Lands Between
Once I got into the game, I just started exploring. I mean, that’s what Elden Ring is all about, right? The Lands Between is massive and there’s something new around every corner. I took my time, soaking in the atmosphere, checking out the scenery, and, of course, getting my butt kicked by some of the early enemies. The first time, I was killed by a flying monster.
- First Steps: I followed the guidance of grace, the little golden trails, to get a feel for where I should be heading. It led me to some Sites of Grace, which are basically bonfires where you can rest and level up.
- Meeting Melina: I bumped into Melina, the mysterious maiden, who offered to be my guide. She’s the one who lets you level up, so that’s pretty important.
- Getting Torrent: Melina also gave me the Spectral Steed Whistle, which lets you summon Torrent, your trusty horse. Riding around on Torrent makes exploring so much easier and faster.
Tackling Some Early Challenges
I decided to take on some of the early game content to get a feel for the combat and progression.
- Tree Sentinel: This big guy on a horse was one of the first major challenges I faced. I tried fighting him early on, but quickly learned that I needed to come back later when I was stronger. This was the second time I was killed.
- Gatefront Ruins: This was a good spot to practice combat and get some early runes. I cleared out the enemies, found some loot, and got a feel for how combat works.
- Margit, the Fell Omen: This was the first major boss I tackled. It took me a few tries, but I eventually figured out his patterns and managed to take him down. It was a pretty satisfying victory!
Experimenting with Builds and Strategies
One of the things I love about Elden Ring is the flexibility in how you can build your character. I spent some time experimenting with different weapons, spells, and stats to see what worked best for me. I even respec’d my character a couple of times to try out completely different playstyles.
- Magic Build: I started as an Astrologer, so I focused on Intelligence and Mind. I found some powerful sorceries that let me blast enemies from a distance.
- Melee Build: I also tried a Strength-based build, using a big, heavy sword to smash through enemies. It was a lot of fun, but required a different approach to combat.
Thoughts on Shuhei Yoshida’s comments
So, about Shuhei Yoshida, from what I gathered, he’s a big fan of Elden Ring, just like many of us. It sounds like he’s been having a blast exploring the game and discovering all its secrets. I totally get it. I’ve been doing the same thing, and it’s been an amazing experience.
That is all for today. I will find more fun games and keep sharing them with you guys!
