Alright, so I’ve been diving deep into golf stats lately, and I really wanted to figure out what the average PGA tour swing speed is. You know, just to see how I stack up. It’s been a bit of a rabbit hole, let me tell you!
First, I started poking around online, just casually Googling stuff. I found a bunch of random numbers, some articles, and a whole lot of forum discussions. Honestly, it was a bit overwhelming. Everybody seemed to have a different opinion, and I wasn’t sure what to believe.
Then I decided to get a little more organized. I grabbed a notebook and started jotting down the numbers I was seeing. I tried to stick to more reputable sources, like the PGA Tour’s official website, or articles from major golf publications. Still, it was tricky because they don’t always make this data super easy to find.
Data Collection Time
- Went to the PGA Tour website. They have a stats section, but it’s kind of buried.
- Found some info on club head speed, but it was a whole big data sheet.
- Scoured articles, forums, and even some older magazine stuff I have.
I spent a good few hours just sifting through all this stuff. I started to see a pattern, though. Most sources were pointing to an average swing speed somewhere between 110 and 115 mph for PGA Tour players. That’s pretty darn fast!
I even tried to calculate it myself using some of the raw data I found. This was probably a bit ambitious, but I figured, why not? I plugged the numbers into a spreadsheet and started messing around with formulas. Not sure if I did it right, but I got a number in that same ballpark, around 113 mph.
So, after all that digging, I feel pretty confident saying the average PGA Tour swing speed is around 113 mph. It was way more work than I expected. Now I know what I have to do – go hit the range and see how close I can get!
