Okay, so I saw this “AK 47 Art” thing pop up on my feed, and I thought, “Why not?” I mean, I’ve got some free time, and it looked kinda cool.
Getting Started
First, I needed to figure out what I was even doing. I’m no artist, but I can follow instructions. I spent a good chunk of time just scrolling through pictures of AK 47s online. Then, I searched for art, like drawings and paintings of them. There’s a ton of stuff out there, some realistic, some, well, not so much. I wanted to make something more realistic, so I focused on getting the details right.
Gathering Supplies
I didn’t have fancy art supplies, just some regular printer paper and pencils I found lying around the house. I also grabbed a ruler because straight lines seemed important for this project. And I got a picture of the gun pulled up on my phone to use as a reference.
The Drawing Process
- Sketching: I started by lightly sketching the basic shape of the AK 47. It was rough, just trying to get the proportions right. I used the ruler a lot here, especially for the long parts like the barrel and the stock.
- Details: Once I had the outline, I started adding in the details. This was the tricky part. There are so many little parts on an AK 47. I spent a lot of time looking at my reference picture and trying to copy what I saw. The magazine, the sights, the trigger – all those little things. I erased a lot and redrew things a bunch of times until they looked somewhat right.
- Shading: After I had all the details drawn in, I tried to add some shading to make it look more 3D. I’m not very good at shading, but I figured it was worth a shot. I just tried to make the parts that would be in shadow darker and leave the parts that would be hit by light lighter.
Finishing Up
Honestly, it took way longer than I expected. I spent a good few hours on this thing. It’s not perfect, not even close, but I’m kind of proud of it. It actually looks like an AK 47, which is more than I hoped for when I started. I even uploaded it to MediaFire for safekeeping. It’s cool to see what you can do with just a pencil and some paper when you’re bored. I might try other projects later. Who knows?
