Today, I wanted to try out the Signal app on my computer. It’s supposed to be a super private way to message people, which sounds pretty cool. So, I started by going to their website. They’ve got versions for all sorts of devices, like Windows, Mac, and Linux. I’m using a Windows machine, so I chose that one.
Downloading was a breeze. I just clicked the download button, and it took just a few minutes, I guess. Installing was easy, too. I double-clicked the file, followed the prompts, and bam, it was on my desktop.
But, here’s the catch: you need to have Signal on your phone first before you can use it on your computer. Luckily, I already had it on my Android. So, I opened the app on my phone, went to the settings, and found an option to link a new device.
- Open the Signal app on your phone.
- Go to Settings.
- Tap on “Linked devices”.
- Tap the plus icon to add a new device.
It showed me a QR code thing, and I just had to scan it with my computer. It connected so fast. Once that was done, my messages started popping up on my computer screen. Pretty neat, right?
Using It
I tried sending a few texts to my friends who also use Signal. I also played around with sending voice messages, pictures, and even some videos. Everything worked smoothly. The interface looks clean and it is easy to navigate. And all the messages are end-to-end encrypted. It feels good to know that my chats are private and secure.
Overall, setting up and using Signal on my computer was way easier than I thought it would be. If you’re already using Signal on your phone and want a bigger screen to chat on, definitely give the desktop version a try. It’s simple, it’s secure, and it just works.
