Okay, so I’ve been messing around with MLB The Show 24, and let me tell you, those submarine pitchers are something else. I really wanted to get into using them, you know, get that weird, underhand throw down. It’s a whole different ballgame, and I was kinda hyped to try it out.
Getting Started
First off, I hopped into a few games just to see what these guys were all about. I picked a couple of teams that have these submarine pitchers. The first thing I noticed was how different the release point is. It’s way lower, obviously, and it kinda threw off my timing at first.
Figuring Out the Controls
The controls were a bit tricky. I spent some time in practice mode, just trying to get the hang of the pitching motions. It’s not like your regular overhand throw. You gotta get used to aiming lower and releasing at a different point. I messed up a lot initially, throwing balls way too high or too low. It was a bit frustrating, not gonna lie.
Experimenting with Pitches
Then, I started experimenting with different pitches. These submarine guys usually have some nasty breaking balls. I tried out sliders and curveballs, and man, when you get them right, they’re insane. The ball just drops off the table, and hitters are swinging at air. I had some hilarious moments watching the AI whiff on some of these pitches.
- Sliders: These were my favorite. Getting the slider to break down and away from a righty was so satisfying.
- Curveballs: A bit harder to control, but when they worked, they really worked.
- Fastballs: Even though they’re not as fast, the low release point makes them look a lot faster than they are.
Playing Actual Games
Once I felt a bit more comfortable, I jumped into some actual games. At first, I was giving up a lot of hits because my control was still shaky. But I stuck with it, and slowly but surely, I started to see some improvement. I managed to strike out a few batters with some well-placed sliders, and it felt great.
Getting Better
I’m still not a pro with these submarine pitchers, but I’m definitely getting better. It takes a lot of practice and patience. I’ve been watching some videos online of people who are really good at it, and that’s been helping a lot. It’s all about practice and getting a feel for the timing and release point.
It’s a fun challenge, and it’s cool to switch things up from the usual pitching style. If you’re playing MLB The Show 24, I’d say give these guys a try. Just be prepared to put in some time to get good at it. It’s worth it, though. The reactions you get when you fool a batter with a nasty submarine pitch are priceless.
