Okay, so I’ve been digging into this whole thing about former NBA players balling overseas, and man, it’s a rabbit hole. Started off just wanting to see where some of my favorite players ended up after they left the league. You know, just casually browsing, and bam, I’m knee-deep in stats and stories.
First off, I grabbed my laptop and fired up the old browser. Started with a simple search, something like “former NBA players in Europe” or whatever. That led me down a bunch of different paths. I found a couple of articles listing players who’ve moved to international leagues, like the EuroLeague and some others I’d never even heard of.
- One name that popped up was Serge Ibaka. Apparently, he’s with Bayern Munich now. I always liked Ibaka, so that was cool to see.
- Then there’s DeMarcus Cousins. This guy’s a beast, and I remembered he was with the Denver Nuggets not too long ago. Turns out, he signed with some team in Puerto Rico called the Guaynabo Mets. Imagine going from the NBA to playing in Puerto Rico. Wild, right?
And it’s not just about the players leaving the NBA. I stumbled upon this whole other side of it – how many current NBA players are actually from Europe. Turns out, it’s like 60 guys, which is almost half of all the international players in the league. And get this, the last two No. 1 draft picks, Victor Wembanyama and Zaccharie Risacher, they’re both European. I mean, it makes you think about how global the game’s getting.
So, I spent a good chunk of my day just reading through all this stuff. Jotted down some notes, compared stats, and basically just geeked out on basketball for a while. It’s crazy how much you can learn when you start digging into something you’re curious about. I didn’t even plan on diving this deep, but hey, that’s how it goes sometimes, right?
What I’ve Realized
It’s not just about following your favorite players, it’s about seeing how the game’s growing all over the world. And it’s not just about the big names either; there’s a whole bunch of guys out there making a living, playing the game they love, even if it’s not in the NBA. It’s pretty inspiring when you think about it.
