Okay, so, I’ve been digging into this whole Lisa Bluder thing, you know, the former head coach of the Iowa Hawkeyes women’s basketball team? Man, what a story. I really wanted to dive deep and see what all the fuss was about, so I decided to read a book about her.
First, I spent some time just browsing around. It seems like there are a few different books about her out there, and I wasn’t quite sure which one to pick up. I saw one called “Lisa Bluder: The Heart of Hawkeye Nation,” and another one called “Lisa Bluder Biography: The Rise of a Coaching Legend in Women’s Basketball.” I also found a third one called “Lisa Bluder: Inspiring Excellence in Women’s Basketball”. It’s a bit of a mixed bag, right? I mean, how do you choose?
I read some summaries and reviews on different book sales pages. I looked into what other people were saying about each book. I wanted to get a feel for which one really captured her story the best. I did notice that some focused more on her personal life, like the fact that she’s married to a guy named David, who is apparently a banker and an author himself. They have three kids. That is cool! But then some books were more about her career journey. It seems like she’s had a pretty remarkable run, from what I could see.
I finally decided to go with “Lisa Bluder: Inspiring Excellence in Women’s Basketball” by Felix M. Logston. I liked the title. I made sure the place I chose to buy it from was delivering to my location. I thought it sounded like it would give me a good overview of both her personal and professional life. I also liked that it seemed to highlight her role as a “trailblazer” in women’s basketball, which is something I’m really interested in.
I ordered the book and I’ve been reading it over the past few days. I’ve been taking notes, highlighting passages, and looking up some of the things that the book mentions. Like, did you know her maiden name was Geske? Or that she was born in 1961? Little details like that.
My Reading Notes
- Early life and career: Found out that Lisa Bluder was born Lisa Marie Geske on April 16, 1961.
- Family Life: She’s married to David Bluder. They have three children.
- Book Title: Lisa Bluder: Inspiring Excellence in Women’s Basketball
- Author: Felix M. Logston
It’s been a really interesting process so far. I’m learning a lot about this woman and her impact on the sport. I’m looking forward to finishing the book and seeing what else I can uncover. Maybe I’ll even watch some old games of hers, just to see her coaching style in action.
Anyway, I wanted to share my little adventure with you all. It’s always fun to dive into a good biography, especially when it’s about someone who’s made such a big difference in their field. I’ll keep you updated as I learn more!
