So, I was curious about Lee Trevino’s spouse. You know, Trevino, that legendary golfer who always had a joke up his sleeve. I started digging around because, well, why not? It’s always interesting to learn about the personal lives of famous folks, right?
First, I checked out a bit about Trevino himself. Born in 1939, this guy was a real character on and off the course. They say his humor was a way to deal with the pressure and keep his private life, well, private. Not one to give up easily, that’s for sure.
Then, I looked into his family life. Turns out, Trevino has been married three times and has six kids. His first marriage gave him Richard Lee, who even became a pro golfer himself. From his second marriage to Claudia Lee Fenley, he had three more kids: Lesley Ann, Tony Lee, and Troy Liana. That marriage ended in divorce in 1983, though.
I found out that he actually married Claudia Fenley in ’83. She was a model and a former Miss Dallas, no less. They had two kids together, Daniel and Lesley Ann. But, things didn’t work out between them either.
Trevino had some tough times too, not just on the golf course. After winning the PGA Championship in ’74, he got struck by lightning! Can you believe it? He had some injuries to his arm and back. Later, he had to get surgery for a spinal disc issue, and then another surgery in ’82. This guy’s been through a lot.
Oh, and about the Masters, Trevino always said he didn’t play because he thought he couldn’t handle the course. But, he did hold the 36-hole lead there twice. So, maybe it was just a way to avoid the topic. He was a bit of a mystery, that Trevino.
I even watched this documentary about him on R&A TV. It’s pretty cool and only for One Club members. It showed a different side of Trevino, which was neat.
So, that’s the gist of what I learned about Lee Trevino and his spouse, Claudia Fenley. It was a bit of a rollercoaster, just like his golf career, I guess. Always something interesting with these famous folks, isn’t there?
