Alright, let’s dive into today’s NYT Strands puzzle, shall we? I started off this morning like I always do – with a cup of coffee and the daily Strands. I opened up the app and saw the grid of letters. It looked like a jumbled mess, as usual. I took a sip of my coffee and started looking for some words, any words, to get the ball rolling.
First, I noticed the theme for today: “Morning morsel.” Okay, I thought, this should be interesting. Breakfast foods, maybe? I scanned the grid again. I saw “ROCK” and “TORE.” Not exactly breakfast items, but hey, they’re words! I selected them, and the app told me I needed one more non-theme word to get a hint. Alright, game on.
I kept poking around, hunting for words that were at least four letters long. “QUEER,” “SICK,” “PATE,” “PANE,” “PEAT” – none of these are things I’d want on my breakfast plate, but they worked! With every three non-theme words, the app revealed the letters of a theme word, all scrambled up. Fun, right?
I’m not gonna lie, it took some time, and lots of coffee refills, to start to see the actual theme words. But I kept at it, selecting more random words like “MART,” “ROBE,” “SING,” “PICK,” “TIME,” “TAME,” and “TAMER.” I was just grabbing anything at this point. Slowly but surely, those hints started to add up, and I could make out some of the breakfast-themed words.
- STRUDEL
- GALETTE
- MUFFIN
- CROISSANT
- SCONE
- DANISH
Here are the theme words I eventually unscrambled:
But that’s not all, folks! There’s also this “spangram” thing, which is a word that connects two opposite sides of the board and tells you what all the theme words have in common. When I finally found it after going through most of the theme words, I realized it could be a proper name, unlike the theme words themselves.
After I found all of the breakfast items, I finally identified the spangram.
Finding all of these words was a fun way to wake up my brain this morning. It’s always a good time figuring out these Strands puzzles. Some days are easier than others, but today was a good challenge. And hey, who doesn’t love a good word game with their morning coffee? That’s it for today’s puzzle adventure. I hope you all enjoyed it as much as I did!
