Okay, so I’ve been trying to get my look together for the 2024 US Open, and let me tell you, it’s been a bit of a journey! I wanted to document the whole process, just in case anyone else is going through the same thing, or maybe just wants some ideas.

First, I started by browsing online. I wanted to see what the pros were wearing in previous years, you know, get a feel for the general vibe. I figured, “Hey, if it’s good enough for them, it’s good enough for me!” I spent, I don’t know, probably a couple of hours just looking at pictures, kind of absorbing the styles. Mostly, classic, sporty, but with some room for personality, you know?
My Gear Hunt
Then, I started to get more serious about my search.
I wanted to look good, so I wanted to be prepared when I step on the golf course.
I tried many brands’ websites, I am not going to tell the names, but I did go through many of them, lets say like 10, maybe 15? I lost count.
My main focus? I needed shirts that were, above all, comfortable. I mean, you’re going to be out there for hours, swinging, walking, so you can’t be stuck in something stiff or scratchy. Breathable fabric was a MUST. I checked for things like “moisture-wicking” and “UV protection,” since, hello, it’s going to be June and likely sunny.
- Shirts: Mostly polos. I ended up grabbing a couple of different colors, a classic white, a navy blue, and then one with a bit more of a pattern, just to mix things up.
- Pants/Shorts: This was tougher. I usually go for shorts, but I wanted to have the option of pants, just in case it’s a bit chilly. I found some lightweight chinos that seemed like they’d do the trick. And for shorts, I just went with some basic khaki ones.
- Shoes: I already had a decent pair of golf shoes, so I decided to stick with those. Comfort is key here, people!
- Hats: Can’t forget sun protection! I am very carefull about sun, so I don’t want to get sunburned. I picked up a simple baseball cap. I don’t like to stand out too much.
Putting It All Together
So, after all that searching and shopping, and my clothes arrived, I think I’ve got a pretty solid wardrobe for the US Open.
I tried everything on, just to make sure it all fit well and looked good together. I even practiced a few swings in the living room, much to my dog’s confusion!

I even went to a golf course to test my new clothes and see if they were up to the task. The result was great.
I’m feeling pretty good about it. I feel comfortable, and I think I look presentable. It is not to win a prize, but at least not to be embarrased.
If you’re heading to the US Open, or any golf tournament, really, I hope this helps you, good luck! It’s all about comfort and feeling good on the course.
